CURRENT EXPERIENCE
In addition to her private practice here in Asheville, Liz is also the Staff Acupuncturist for The Fertile Soul, treating Fertile Soul retreat participants and conducting phone consults with patients worldwide. The Fertile Soul was created by Dr. Randine Lewis, author of The Infertility Cure and The Way of The Fertile Soul, and is founded on the belief that fertility is not “out there” somewhere, but is in each of us, and needs to be expressed in our everyday lives. It is not just about having a baby, but also about enjoying and being present in the life that you currently live.
Liz is currently in the midst of the second year of an intensive Alchemical Healing Mentorship with Lorie Eve Dechar, M.Ac. and Benjamin Fox, LMT. Alchemical Acupuncture is rooted in Taoist principles, Five Element Acupuncture, and western depth psychology. In this work, you and Liz create a powerful and safe container in which true healing is supported and allowed to happen. All symptoms are treasured, including those that feel most bothersome. It is these symptoms that are often our biggest teachers. You are not broken, and do not need “fixing.” You and Liz work together, with deep, active listening on her part, to come up with new possibilities for your life’s fullest expression. In Liz’s opinion, it is not just the acupuncture needles that hold the power of the treatment, but the work that you two do before the first needle is even applied.
The modalities Liz currently uses to help achieve balance include acupuncture, herbal therapy, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, essential oils, Spagyrics, and flower essences. She is also constantly learning new modalities in order to best serve her patients.
EARLY EXPERIENCE
Liz graduated at the top of her class from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego with a Master’s in Science. During her schooling, she assisted Alex Tiberi, L.Ac., a pioneer of Chinese Medicine in the U.S. with over 25 years of experience. Liz also interned for one year at San Diego’s Pacific Beach Free Clinic, which offers complimentary acupuncture, dental, and medical treatments to the community’s under-served population. She has also treated college athletes with sports injuries and orthopedic problems at the University of California, San Diego.
In 2008, Liz completed an internship in herbal and acupuncture training at the Chengdu University Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Chengdu, China. This experience enhanced Liz’s knowledge and experience in both the foundations and the modern innovations of this ancient form of healing and was an invaluable part of her professional and personal growth. Liz has supplemented her education with lectures on pulse diagnosis by Min Fan, L.Ac., and on classic Chinese texts by Bob Damone, L.Ac. Liz goes above and beyond the continuing education units (CEU’s) required for license renewal. The National Licensing Board requires 60 CEU’s every 4 years; in her last renewal period, Liz completed 230 CEU’s because of her dedication to the study of Chinese Medicine and to her patients.
Liz’s areas of interest include: women’s health (menstrual problems, menopause, infertility, pre- and post-natal support, etc.), pain (chronic & acute), stress & anxiety relief, and digestive disorders. Liz has an allergy to all grains (including gluten) & is especially equipped to help support those with similar issues. As an avid cook and baker, she is very happy to discuss and help you implement dietary recommendations.
In her spare time, Liz enjoys cooking, walking & hiking, spending time with her friends, family, & dogs, reading, taking photos, watching movies, and lots of laughing.
